Commercial design 17' - 340' (tugs, ferries, fishing, barges, sternwheelers).
Pleasure boat design 55' to 165' (Fiberglass and steel motoryachts)
Laser theodolite hull measurement of vessels. (approx 25 vessels 55'-225').
Author of BaseLine II, THE interactive hull fairing system.
Mechanical system design (HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
Commitment to Quality

In the marine design industry, accuracy and quality of workmanship go hand-in-hand. At BaseLine Technology, these attributes are our stock in trade.  We strive to incorporate new technology, but only as it is proven effective in maintaining or improving quality and accuracy. These same attributes manifest themselves in our software. BaseLine is constantly under development, as are AutoLisp routines which automate design tasks which would be too complex to be undertaken manually.

Our hull measurement is an example of technology which has proven itself to improve accuracy. An added benefit is that it reduces measurement costs and time necessary to produce needed output.

Services
1. Hull Design

We offer a complete line hull design services. We can take your basic parameters and sketches and produce a complete design including:

Lines and Offsets.
Outboard Profile.
General Arrangement.
Structural Inboard Profile.
Decks & Hold Structural Plans.
Shell Expansion.
Midship & Typical Sections.
GHS Model.
Weight Estimate.
NC Loftings including nest tapes.

Output can be magnetic media, hardcopy (plotted on your choice of medium) or both. In the case of magnetic media, delivery can be through the mail, UPS, Federal Express, or over the Internet in a variety of forms.

M/V Queen of the West was lofted for Nichols Brothers Boatbuilders, Whidbey Island, Washington in 1995. The vessel, including stiffeners was composed of 3400 parts. It was burned entirely by Everett Steel from "tapes" generated by BaseLine Technology. She carries 130 passengers on week-long cruises between Astoria, Oregon and Lewiston, Idaho.

2. Hull Fairing

Stuck with a fairing problem and no way to solve it? We can fair your hull, using BaseLine II, and give you back AutoCAD DWG files (or DXF files) for release 12 or 13, 14 or 2000 of AutoCAD. Optionally, we can supply a BaseLine II model and a runtime version of BaseLine II (which only works with the model prepared by BaseLine Technology). In this case, you can easily generate your own output as you need it, free from the need to buy the full program until your needs dictate.

Some examples of pricing (your hull may vary):
17' Plywood Catboat: 95' Double Chine Tug: 150' Fully-Moulded MotorYacht 30' Fully-Moulded Sailing Yacht 58' Hard Chined Fishing Vessel
US$200.00
US$1000.00
US$2500.00
US$800.00
$US850.00

These prices are representative. Your price may be more or less. Also, these prices are for completely finished (ready for NC lofting) lines. Finished lines drawings are extra (approximately US$200.00 - 500.00)

3. Hull Measurement

Cliff Estes, president is responsible for development of the system of hull measurement used. It is accurate to 1/8" over the length of the longest ship we have used it to measure (225'). This accuracy assures that your measurement will be as accurate as the hull being measured.

Hull measurements take approximately 2 days in drydock with the vessel totally accessible, all around its perimeter. Depending on the size and location, the owner must work with the shipyard to provide a manlift and operator. BaseLine provides the equipment and expertise. At the end of the project, before leaving the drydock, the vessel's lines will be reviewed on the screen of a laptop computer to be certain that good measurements were obtained. Arbitrary stakeout points will be checked to be certain that the model is the same as the hull.

Output can take the form of:

GHS Model.
BaseLine II model.
Lines Drawing.

4. AutoCAD Consulting and Training

As a leader in the use of AutoCAD in marine design since 1983 (release 1.17) Cliff Estes can provide AutoCAD customization that will pay for itself in increased productivity, usually in one or two AutoCAD sessions. Examples of automation include:

Drafting routines.
Drawing schedule preparation/maintenance routines.
"Smart Bubbles" (part numbering bubbles and databases for Bills of Materials)
Shell plate development within AutoCAD.
Decks & Hull Structural Plans.
Custom commands.
Products

BaseLine Technology is heavily involved in the development of marine design software. It's flagship product, BaseLine II has been successfully used by marine designers and naval architects the world over since 1989. As with all BaseLine products, it is under constant development, but was discontinued late in 2000, due to a lack of market.

BaseLine Technology specializes in development of AutoCAD specific programming aimed at automating the vessel design process. Examples include:

AutoCAD/Database interfaces for generation of Bills of Materials.
Streamlining CAD Operations.
